Carl Ross papers 1906-1988.

The majority of the collection is student papers from Ross's Appalachian History courses. A number of papers are annotated bibliographies and research papers written on northwestern North Carolina topics of interest. The second series, Brinegar Cabin Materials, contains photographs, interviews, inflormation sheets, brochures and blue prints for the Brinegar Cabin located in Doughton Park on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Carl Augustus Ross, Jr. (1931-1988) was a history professor at Appalachian State University from 1966 to 1988 and the director of the Center for Appalachian Studies from 1984 to 1988. He taught Appalachian History and Latin American courses, researched local and regional history, and served various Appalachian historical associations, publications and societies.
